"the whole sky belonged to us."
The opening poem. About the love that existed before everything changed — and choosing it anyway.
before the hallway silence
before the season changed
the laughter was booming
plenty of love in spades
your smiling eyes
made me melt inside
your love and grace
was my happy place
for so long
for so very long
I could come to you and spill my guts
you just being there was always enough
with gentle words of encouragement
you helped me grow up
grateful for those memories
all those days I wish I could replay
all the nights we held each other tight
making the most out of a mundane life
you were what was best for me
I was what was best for you
friends turned lovers
we chose each other over everything else
I'd do it all again
I'd choose you again
over and over
even though I know it ends
I'd choose you 10 out of 10
as long as I was close to you
the whole sky belonged to us
the world could melt away
from the collection
"I'm tired and lonely
but at least I'm warm"
recursion of a life I'm stepping away from
to a life I'm stepping into
still thinking there's room for you
maybe in the future
but maybe I'm just a fool
it's always how it was supposed to be
me and you together
then me and you no more
then maybe we'll see what happens when
we both grow up
minds clear and eyes shine bright
like that ceiling light we installed
after our first fight
when we walked out of the house
I couldn't help but look at the light and smile
if walls could talk ours would talk for hours
non stop good and bad
no matter what I felt I'd always think of you and smile
thankful that it happened
I failed you and that's the type of regret that lingers
but in the end
what mattered most
was how you felt anytime we were together
mistakes will always land harder than those memories
maybe one day I'll get a chance to say
I love you more now than I ever did back then
can we ever just be friends again
The kind of love that still makes you smile even when it should make you cry.
will I ever not miss you
will I never not want you
sitting in the thick of the pain
trying to find a way to climb out
my brightest nights you were there
my darkest days you were there
it's so hard when I turn the coffee on
enough for two but now it's only me
soul's code written in my bones
knowing the truth as I grow old
Always, always, always — there is something left to hold on to
Never, never, never — forget who we were
Always, always, always — fight to be a better man
Never, never, never — forget what that felt like
Always, always, always — trust that you have the answers deep within
Never, never, never — give up right before the win
recycled love
stomp on my flower
rainy day
a devil wrapped in sweetness
you witchy heart glows
stomping on my flowers
dancing in the rain
they taught him who to fear
gave him enemies with borrowed names
his nightmares learned to walk upright
and live inside his waking days
turns out they weren't so different
turns out he was just the same
Seldom seen the rain
shine bright in the mist
never one to change
without knowing the risk
sit with it till you accept
nevertheless we shall remain
not to end
but to begin again
